Intellian Technologies chooses Rotterdam

ROTTERDAM - Construction of the new European headquarters of Intellian Technologies started at Business Park Hoog Zestienhoven at the beginning of this month. The listed Korean producer of high-quality satellite technology works with real estrate developer HRE, the development arm of the Rotterdam architectural firm ConverseArchitects.

At the end of last year, HRE and Intellian reached an agreement for the construction of the new office building, which also offers space for a large warehouse and state-of-the-art testing and training facilities. The choice for Rotterdam was almost self-evident for the Koreans. The Dutch branch of the company has been located here for more than seven years. Intellian has therefore been charmed for some time by the energy and international allure of the World Port City.

The new Head Office is being built at Business Park Zestienhoven. A logical choice, because of the favourable location next to Rotterdam-The Hague airport and several important roads and cities within a short travel distance. The Rotterdam architectural firm ConverseArchitects was responsible for the design and also managed to give the building a very high GPR building score. This commonly used Dutch sustainability methodology provides more insight than just the energy performance of a real estate object.

Architect Machiel Hopman: “GRP measures and assesses the performance of a building on various themes and examines five modules: energy, environment, health, quality of use and future value.The design of the building reflects Intellians high tech and innovative Corporate Identity and also the way HRE works. In addition, before and during construction, the information for all collaborating partners is fully managed in a digital 3D BIM model (Building Information Model). The client, architect, consultants, contractor and installer exchange information with each other via open standards and data are central during the entire lifecycle of the structure.”

Contractor BAM will take care of the construction, which will take about seven months. It can be concluded that Rotterdam has a nice new building in October and can be more than satisfied with the arrival of Intallian Technologies.
